Pastor Damonn P. White, now leading our congregation at Second Union Missionary Baptist Church, hails from the vibrant city of San Francisco. With a remarkable 19-year tenure at Cornerstone Baptist Church (“The Stone”), Pastor White's journey of full-time ministry service began in February 2014 when he joined the church staff, initially serving as Youth Pastor and then transitioning to Administrative Assistant to the Pastor. In this vital role, he worked tirelessly to support the work of the ministry and empower the Senior Pastor in various aspects of ministry.
Within the walls of Cornerstone, Pastor White assumed a diverse array of leadership roles, including Co-Servant Leader of the Sunday School Ministry, Stewardship of the New Membership Ministry, and ministerial oversite of the Praise Dance Ministry, Youth Choir, and Youth Bible Study. His commitment extended beyond the sanctuary, as he oversaw event and program management for major occasions held at The Stone, including the Hallelujah Festival, Youth Explosion, funerals, and collaborative events with sister churches and community organizations. Notably, he played an instrumental role in securing funding and providing direction to Cornerstone’s Building Bridges Summer Camp, an initiative under The Stone's non-profit umbrella called Building Bridges. Pastor White humbly views himself as one of the integral cogs in the wheel that ensured the congregation ran smoothly.
Upon completing his Master of Divinity degree at the Berkeley School of Theology (with an emphasis on Urban Ministry and Mental Health for African American Preachers both Men and Women. He was also the recipient of the J. Alfred Smith, Sr. Award for Outstanding Ministry in the Black Church. Pastor White successfully completed Clinical Pastoral Education with Kaiser Foundation Hospital Walnut Creek under the leadership of Rev. Jurgen Schwing. While completing his latest ministerial degree, he served as Minister in Charge for Second Union Missionary Baptist Church during their pastoral search for ten months. During this time Pastor White helped maintain stability from the pulpit, hope, encouragement, and a calming presence as Second Union was healing from the loss of Pastor Calvin Ellison and a Global Pandemic. Pastor White also lead the leadership to get spiritual support from Pastor Michael Gilmore and Pastor Rodney Leggett.
Remarkably, Pastor White is not only a devoted shepherd, but also a loving husband of 27 years to his beloved wife, Crystal Lyn White. Together, they cherish their roles as parents to their four children: Jesse, Darae, Dejah, and Kiana and grandparents to Riley Simone, Kimora, and Deon. In his moments of respite, he finds joy in cooking, family, and indulging in the world of literature.
As we warmly welcome Pastor Damonn P. White and our new First Lady, Crystal Lyn White, we embark on an exciting journey of faith, leadership, and community at Second Union Missionary Baptist Church. In the short time Pastor White has been with the Second Union Church family he has begun a Renovation Building Pledge and a Blanket and Sock drive for the homeless and seniors in the community.
